Product Overview
This is the First public release after testing, these boards have what is listed in stock currently, are ordered when the first 25 Xbox and 25 PS5 boards are sold, production time once ordered is 4 weeks, build time to be and additional 2-3 weeks.
What is the XP-2040 and XS-2040
The XP-2040 is the PS5 Dualsense board for models BDM-030, BDM-040 and BDM-050 controller.
The XS-2040 is the XBOX X/S version for the complete lower board of the X/S stock controller.
This is a custom-engineered, professional-grade controller core purpose built for elite-level performance with ultra stable low-latency performance. Developed by XP Controllers (formerly Budds Controllers) in partnership with Nick Guyver, it utilizes the powerful RP2040 dual-core microcontroller running the open-source GP2040-CE firmware.
This platform is crafted to deliver true 1000Hz polling, customizable inputs, and unmatched modularity, all on a reinforced, gold-plated PCB built for top-level play.
⚙️ Why XP/XS-2040 Excels
-
Native 1000Hz Polling: Achieves consistent 1ms PS5/1.5ms Xbox wired input without firmware hacks or overclocking.
-
Dual-Core RP2040 Processor: Ensures reliable USB HID throughput under all conditions.
-
ENIG Gold-Plated PCB: Provides durability, corrosion resistance, and solder-friendly surfaces.
-
Nitrogen Soldered: Delivers clean, industrial-grade joints built to last.
-
Open-Source Firmware: Powered by GP2040-CE with web configuration, SOCD, turbo, macro support, and more. Will for sure work with other firmware but would need to be customized, I can supply a pinout etc. if you want to build the firmware yourself.

-
Modular Design: Features plug-in triggers and back buttons for easy upgrades and maintenance.
-
Gold-Plated Test Pads: Serve as manual solder points or quick diagnostic contacts or for picking up inputs.
-
Dual USB-C Ports: One for game input, one for passthrough/authentication flexibility (no support can be given around keys etc.).
-
TMR Hall Effect Sticks: Offer ultra-fast, drift-free thumbsticks with customizable inner and outer deadzones.
- Auto Calibrating Centre: The centre point is calibrated every power cycle, so this helps compensate for wear over time.
- Multiple Pickup Points: There is a point for dedicated back buttons every button and trigger, as well as 1.8v, 3.3v and 5v should you ever want to power anything from LEDs or even potential future upgrades.
- Plug in Back Buttons and Triggers: The PS5 Board has both plug in back buttons and triggers for the 030 to 050 model, while the Xbox has plug in back buttons only as the Omron mouse switches are directly mounted to the PCB. This modularity allows for user friendly replacement of the back buttons or easy adaptation of a different system relatively easy so it can simply plug in.
XP-RP2040 for The PS5
Designed to Replace the Entire DualSense model BDM-030, BDM-040 and BDM-050 Internal Board
The PS5 version of the XP-RP2040 transforms the internal architecture of the DualSense shell into a wired competitive-grade controller with consistent 1ms response, drift free precision, and full customization.
⚡ PS5 Latency Comparison (Wired Mode)
Controller | Avg Latency | Notes |
---|---|---|
XP-RP2040 PS5 | 1.0 ms | Native 1000Hz, no smoothing, consistent |
DualSense (stock/OC) | 1.8-8 ms | USB wired, tested via Gamepadla |
DualSense Edge | 1.8–8.95 ms | No significant improvement over stock |
Victrix Pro BFG | 2.81–3.95 ms | Improved latency with wired connection |
? The XP-RP2040 PS5 version offers 4–6× faster latency than nearly every controller on the market, with true 1000Hz polling and no software tricks required.
XS-2040 for Xbox Series X|S Controllers
Replaces MCU Board — Uses Stock Button Board
The Xbox Series version replaces the internal MCU board while retaining the original button PCB, making it ideal for stealth builds and hybrid modifications. It connects cleanly to the stick, button, and trigger systems, and introduces full support for XP’s proprietary modular upgrades.
Xbox-Specific Highlights
-
Replaces main MCU board (button board retained), mouse switches mounted direct to the board
-
TMR thumbsticks with adjustable inner/outer deadzones. TMR are much faster and more accurate than a hall effect.
-
Optional XP CNC POM back button system.
-
Dual USB-C ports: passthrough and controller input.
⚡ Xbox Latency Comparison (Wired Mode)
Controller | Avg Latency | Notes |
---|---|---|
XS-2040 Xbox | 1.5 ms | True 1000Hz polling with no latency spikes |
Xbox Series Controller (stock) | 6.5 ms | Tested via Gamepadla |
Xbox Elite Series 2 Core | 6.5–7.21 ms | Slight improvement over stock |
Razer Wolverine V2 Chroma | 5.2–7.1 ms | High polling claim, but unstable latency |
The XS-2040 Xbox version achieves 3–5× faster latency than leading “pro” controllers — without gimmicks or hidden firmware layers.
Ideal For
-
Competitive FPS players seeking maximal reaction speed.
-
Modders and builders who want modularity, clean layout, and serviceability.
-
Stick and trigger upgrade enthusiasts (Kailh, Huano, Omron switch support).
-
Anyone tired of expensive controllers with inflated specs and slow internals.
*Disclaimer*
These boards are being advertised for PC, console compatibility is designed by 3rd parties and it is best to reach out to them for assistance on thier devices, I will however give assistance setting up the firmware of my board etc.
Console Passthrough Setup – No Latency, No Confusion
The XP-RP2040 is designed with a dedicated USB Host passthrough port to allow compatibility with consoles like PS4, PS5, and Xbox One / Series X|S using third-party authentication adapters.
When set up correctly, there is no added latency — your inputs are processed entirely by the RP2040, and the adapter is only used for authentication.
✅ Correct Passthrough Chain
Supported adapters:
-
Brook Wingman series
✔️ The adapter plugs into the Host (passthrough) USB-C port on the XP-RP2040.
✔️ The main USB port on the XP-RP2040 goes directly to the console.
This method ensures inputs are processed directly by the controller — no extra latency is introduced.
Support for these devices is not provided by XP controllers and is provided by the makers of the device.
❌ Incorrect Setup (Will Add Latency)
This sends inputs through the adapter, which defeats the purpose of using GP2040-CE and introduces additional latency and potential instability.
⚠️ Do not plug your XP-RP2040 controller into the adapter’s USB input. Always plug the adapter into the controller's host port.
